As already mentioned, changing the date format requires the Text to Columns tool so please see the previous chapter on Text to Columns to learn more about what this tool does before you proceed further in this chapter. Now let’s look at an example.

In column A, there is a list of dates, however, they are in the US format of mm/dd/yyyy. To make this even more complicated, there are some dates which look like dates but are not recognised as dates in Excel which are in rows 9 to 14 and 17 to 20. Dates are normally right aligned but you can see these dates are left aligned.
